What happens after an arrest in Kaufman County?

Dress code

• Shirt, shoes, and pants or shorts are required. No provocative or revealing clothing.
• No contact visits are permitted at any time.
• Sign in no later than 30 minutes before the visitation window closes or you will not be admitted for that session.

How do I put money on the books at the Kaufman County jail?

Kaufman County uses Tiger Commissary for inmate accounts. The same account balance pays for commissary orders, phone calls, and electronic messages.

Tiger Commissary also handles commissary package orders — you can send hygiene items, snacks, and other allowed goods directly from their platform. The Detention Facility sits on US Highway 175 on the east side of Kaufman, about 35 miles southeast of downtown Dallas. The courthouse is one block east at 1902 E. US-175.

Getting there

• From Dallas / I-30 east: Take I-30 East to US-80 East (toward Terrell), then exit toward US-175 South in Terrell. Follow US-175 West into Kaufman — the facility is on the right (north) side of the highway.
• From Forney / US-80: Take US-80 West to TX-205, head south into Kaufman, then follow US-175 East a short distance to 1900 E. US-175.
• From I-20 / Grand Saline area: Take US-175 West directly into Kaufman. The facility is on the left (south) side heading westbound.

The facility and the adjacent Justice Center both front US Highway 175. The addresses 1900 (jail) and 1902 (courthouse) are essentially the same complex — a single turn into the US-175 frontage will bring you to the correct area. Most GPS navigation using the address “1900 E. US Hwy 175, Kaufman, TX 75142” will route you correctly.

• Bond window: The lobby bond-payment window is accessible 24/7. For bond payment, bring your photo ID and the exact bond amount or your chosen payment method.
