All Tarrant County city pages — municipal court, city jail, ticket payment & how to find someone in custody:

"Which county am I in?" — the Mansfield & Grapevine trap

Two Tarrant County cities cross county lines, which decides which jail and court you deal with.

Mansfield is primarily in Tarrant County, but small portions extend into Johnson County (Cleburne) and Ellis County (Waxahachie). If an arrest happens in one of those pockets, the person may be held in the Johnson or Ellis County jail instead of Tarrant's. If you can't find someone in the Tarrant search, check those counties as well.

Grapevine spans Tarrant, Dallas, and Denton Counties. People arrested by Grapevine PD may be transferred to any of the three county jails depending on arrest location. If the Tarrant search comes up empty, try Dallas County or Denton County next.

What to bring to court (and how to act)

  • Bring: a photo ID, your citation or court paperwork, any court notice, and proof of anything the court asked for (insurance, classes, payment).
  • Dress: business casual — no hats, tank tops, shorts, or offensive graphics. Phones silenced.
  • Arrive early: the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center has security screening; parking and processing take time. Being late can trigger a warrant or a reset.
  • Don't guess: if you're unsure what a setting means (arraignment, plea, pretrial, MTBI), ask the coordinator or speak with a lawyer before you walk in.

Tarrant County jail & court FAQ

How do I find out if someone is in the Tarrant County jail?

Use the online inmate search at inmatesearch.tarrantcounty.com — search by name to see which facility they're in, their charges, and whether bond has been set. If unavailable, call (817) 884-3000. Tarrant County operates five facilities, so the search covers all of them at once.

Is there video visitation at the Tarrant County jail?

The official Tarrant County visitation page describes in-person visits only — no video visitation option was confirmed during research. Many Texas jails added remote video options after COVID; call (817) 884-3000 to ask whether any video visit program currently exists before making travel plans.

How fast can someone bond out?

After a magistrate sets the bond amount (which happens at Central Magistration following arrest), you can post it any time at the 24/7 Bond Desk at 100 N. Lamar. Actual release timing depends on how busy the jail is and when paperwork processes.

Can I put money on the books with a credit card?

Yes — through Access Corrections online at accesscorrections.com, the free mobile app, or by phone at (866) 345-1884. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. You can also use Cash Pay Today at retail locations or lobby kiosks. Money orders (USPS or Western Union only) may be mailed.

Is there a bail schedule for Tarrant County?

No published countywide bail schedule was found. A magistrate sets each person's bond individually at Central Magistration based on five factors: the alleged offense, pre-trial risk, ability to pay, court history, and community safety. The amount appears in the inmate search once set.

Does Mansfield use the Tarrant County jail?

Mostly, yes — Mansfield transfers most higher-level charges to the Tarrant County Corrections Center. However, small portions of Mansfield fall within Johnson and Ellis Counties, which have their own separate jails and courts. Check the Mansfield city jail inmate search (p2c.mansfieldtexas.gov) first, then Tarrant County if needed.
