What is the Tri-City Regional Jail and what happens after booking?

A shared, short-term holding jail operated by the DeSoto Police Department for four cities. It is not a county detention center — it holds people briefly, then releases on bond or transfers them to Dallas County.

The four cities share this facility under an interlocal agreement, so a person arrested by any of the four departments may be booked here regardless of which city made the arrest. 2. Class C mattersIf the only charges are Class C (city ordinance, traffic, low-level misdemeanors handled by the municipal court), bond can usually be posted at the jail and the person released from DeSoto.
3. Charges above Class CAnyone held on a Class A/B misdemeanor or a felony is transferred to the Dallas County jail (Lew Sterrett Justice Center) for magistration and housing.

How do I find someone in the Tri-City Regional Jail?

Use the shared SWRCC public-records portal, or call the jail directly. Because holds are short, a recent booking may not appear online — calling is often faster.

Can you visit someone at the Tri-City Regional Jail?

None of the four cities (DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Duncanville) publish set visitation days or hours for the Tri-City Regional Jail on their official websites. Can I put money on the books at Tri-City?

No. The Tri-City Regional Jail does not run a commissary and does not hold money for an inmate’s personal use. Money you bring is for posting a bond or paying a fine — not for an account.

The City of DeSoto states the regional jail does not accept money for an inmate to use, because it is a short-term holding facility rather than a long-term detention center. If your goal is to get someone out, your money goes toward a bond (see below), not a commissary account. The Tri-City Regional Jail sits on E. Beltline Road in DeSoto, in southern Dallas County.

Visitor parking is available at the facility. Lobby hours for paying a bond or asking about an inmate are not published online, so call (469) 658-3081 first. Bring a valid photo ID. Expect a security screening — leave weapons, large bags, and outside food or drink in your vehicle.
